Diverse internet-domein eigenaren krijgen rond deze tijd een email van WDR Compliance [wdrp@name-services.com] met de volgende tekst

Dear Domain Holder,
This message is a reminder to help you keep the contact data associated with your domain registration up-to-date.
As of October 31, 2003 we are required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to send you this reminder by the Anniversary date of each registered Domain Name that is subject to the terms and conditions of that organization. 
Below is a list of domain names with your email address listed as the registrant or administrative contact.  The current contact information associated with the domain may be verified by following the link provided.  
If any of the contact data is inaccurate, it must be corrected. <knip>

In de mail wordt een link vermeldt waar je gevraagd wordt op te klikken.
Automatisch bekruipt je het gevoel dat het een phishing mail betreft. 
Als je dat vermoeden hebt moet je gewoon even Googlen op een deel van de tekst uit de email.

Google op “This message is a reminder to help you keep the contact data associated with your domain registration up-to-date” levert als hit: http://www.auditmypc.com/wdrp-compliance.asp

Onderaan die pagina vind je wat je er mee zou moeten (of kunnen) doen:

You don’t need to click on the link to verify your information, you can instead go to whois.sc or any other service and type in your domain name to verify that your information is correct and WDRP compliant.

Het is dus een oproep om je internet domein informatie te checken.
Daavoor zijn allerlei diensten beschikbaar en hoef je dus niet peré de link die in de email staat te volgen.

N.B. Emails waarvan je vermoedt dat het een Hoax is kan je op dezelfde manier ‘determineren’.
