Soms vraag ik me wel eens af of er nog iemand is die iets anders dan iTunes gebruikt om podcasts te downloaden/beluisteren.

Aan podcatchers is er overigens keus genoeg zo te zien:

Eh… ik ga dat aanbod binnenkort toch wel weer eens bekijken. Wie weet wat er nog voor leuke of interessante dingen zijn bedacht.

Wat is het toch weer bedroevend om te moeten constateren dat er nagenoeg geen enkele politieke partij aan heeft gedacht om hun verkiezingsprogramma voor de komende verkiezingen in audio op hun site te publiceren.

Echt DOM, want wat is er nu handiger dan alle programma’s op je mp3 speler rustig te kunnen beluisteren en her-beluisteren terwijl je onderweg bent?

De enige die er aan gedacht heeft is D66, geloof ik.

Update 19:50:02: De SP heeft er ook aan gedacht, zij het dat het hier een audio stream betreft. Die kan je niet op je mp3-speler meenemen

Update 20:52:33: Een #durftevragen-tje op Twitter werd heel snel door @justhostnl opgepakt en leverde het volgende op:

Conclusie:

Met de titel van deze post zat ik er toch niet helemaal naast. De audio is er wel, maar… om de audio op je mp3-speler te krijgen moet er toch echt nog wel wat meer gebeuren.

Het ware TOP geweest als ze allemaal als podcast(s) met een podcatcher, bijvoorbeeld iTunes, te downloaden zouden zijn geweest . Vebeterpuntje?

Spokenword.org, waar ik in maart ’09 al over post-te, is een directory/portal voor allerlei soorten audio content op het web.

De service, heeft voor wat podcasts betreft, de ambitie om de ‘open’ tegenhanger van de podcast sectie in iTunes te worden. Hoe mooi iTunes podcasting ook ondersteunt (petje af!) moet ik toegeven dat je daardoor wel met handen en voeten aan iTunes gebonden voor het abonneren op podcasts die notabene van derden zijn.

Als één van de technisch noodzakelijke stappen daar naar toe zal rssCloud worden geïmplementeerd. rssCloud is de enige manier om de enorme hoeveelheid van podcasts-feeds te monitoren.

Een en ander is te horen in het gesprek dat Dave Winer met Doug Kaye (van Spokenword.org) en Joseph Scott (met de maker van de rssCloud plug-in voor WordpPress) heeft in de 11e editie van de Bad Hair Day Podcast .

‘t Kan nooit kwaad dat er tegen de iTunes dominantie wordt opgebokst.
